Then King Darius issued a decree, and a search was conducted in the archives, where the treasures were stored in Babylon.

And in Ecbatana, in the fortress which is in the province of Media, a scroll was found; and the following was written in it: 'Memorandum—

In the first year of King Cyrus, Cyrus the king issued a decree: ‘
Concerning
the house of God in Jerusalem, let the temple, the place where sacrifices are offered, be rebuilt, and let its foundations be repaired, its height
being
sixty cubits
and
its width sixty cubits,
4
with
three layers of large stones and one layer of timber. And the cost is to be paid from the royal treasury.

Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:

In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;

With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king's house:

King Darius gave the order, and they searched in the library of Babylon in the archives.

But it was in the fortress of Ecbatana in the province of Media that a scroll was found with this record written on it:

In the first year of King Cyrus, he issued a decree concerning the house of God in Jerusalem: Let the house be rebuilt as a place for offering sacrifices, and let its original foundations be retained. Its height is to be ninety feet and its width ninety feet,

with three layers of cut stones and one of timber. The cost is to be paid from the royal treasury.

So King Darius issued orders that a search be made in the Babylonian archives, which were stored in the treasury.

But it was at the fortress at Ecbatana in the province of Media that a scroll was found. This is what it said:
'Memorandum:

'In the first year of King Cyrus’s reign, a decree was sent out concerning the Temple of God at Jerusalem. 'Let the Temple be rebuilt on the site where Jews used to offer their sacrifices, using the original foundations. Its height will be ninety feet, and its width will be ninety feet.

Every three layers of specially prepared stones will be topped by a layer of timber. All expenses will be paid by the royal treasury.

And in Ecbatana, the citadel that is in the province of Media, a scroll was found on which this was written: "A record.

In the first year of Cyrus the king, Cyrus the king issued a decree: Concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, let the house be rebuilt, the place where sacrifices were offered, and let its foundations be retained. Its height shall be sixty cubits and its breadth sixty cubits,
