Ezekiel 7:17-22
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 7
17All hands will hang limp, and all knees will drip with water. 18They will put on sackcloth and shuddering will overwhelm them; and shame will be on all faces, and a bald patch on all their heads. 19They will fling their silver into the streets, and their gold will become an abhorrent thing; their silver and their gold will not be able to save them on the day of the wrath of the Lord. They cannot satisfy their appetite, nor can they fill their stomachs, because their wrongdoing has become a cause of stumbling.
20Moreover, they transformed the splendor of His jewels into pride, and they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things with it; therefore I will make it an abhorrent thing to them.
21And I will hand it over to the foreigners as plunder, and to the wicked of the earth as spoils; and they will profane it.
22I will also turn My face away from them, and they will profane My treasure; then robbers will enter and profane it.
King James Version
Chapter 7
17All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water. 18They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads. 19They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity. 20As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them. 21And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it. 22My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my secret place: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it.Christian Standard Bible
19They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will seem like something filthy. Their silver and gold will be unable to save them in the day of the Lord's wrath. They will not satisfy their appetites or fill their stomachs, for these were the stumbling blocks that brought about their iniquity.
20He appointed his beautiful ornaments for majesty, but they made their detestable images from them, their abhorrent things. Therefore, I have made these into something filthy to them.
21I will hand these things over to foreigners as plunder and to the wicked of the earth as spoil, and they will profane them.
New Living Translation
Chapter 7
17Their hands will hang limp, their knees will be weak as water. 18They will dress themselves in burlap; horror and shame will cover them. They will shave their heads in sorrow and remorse.
19'They will throw their money in the streets, tossing it out like worthless trash. Their silver and gold won’t save them on that day of the Lord’s anger. It will neither satisfy nor feed them, for their greed can only trip them up.
20They were proud of their beautiful jewelry and used it to make detestable idols and vile images. Therefore, I will make all their wealth disgusting to them.
21I will give it as plunder to foreigners, to the most wicked of nations, and they will defile it.
22I will turn my eyes from them as these robbers invade and defile my treasured land.
English Standard Version
Chapter 7
17All hands are feeble, and all knees turn to water. 18They put on sackcloth, and horror covers them. Shame is on all faces, and baldness on all their heads. 19They cast their silver into the streets, and their gold is like an unclean thing. Their silver and gold are not able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD. They cannot satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it. For it was the stumbling block of their iniquity. 20His beautiful ornament they used for pride, and they made their abominable images and their detestable things of it. Therefore I make it an unclean thing to them. 21And I will give it into the hands of foreigners for prey, and to the wicked of the earth for spoil, and they shall profane it. 22I will turn my face from them, and they shall profane my treasured place. Robbers shall enter and profane it.New International Version
18They will put on sackcloth and be clothed with terror. Every face will be covered with shame, and every head will be shaved.
19'They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be treated as a thing unclean. Their silver and gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath. It will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs, for it has caused them to stumble into sin.
20They took pride in their beautiful jewelry and used it to make their detestable idols. They made it into vile images; therefore I will make it a thing unclean for them.
21I will give their wealth as plunder to foreigners and as loot to the wicked of the earth, who will defile it.
