Exodus 9:8-13
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 9
8
Then the
Lord
said to Moses and Aaron, 'Take for yourselves handfuls of soot from a kiln, and Moses shall toss it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh.
9
Then it will become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and will turn into boils breaking out with sores on
every
person and animal through all the land of Egypt.'
10
So they took soot from a kiln, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses tossed it toward the sky, and it became boils breaking out with sores on
every
person and animal.
11
The soothsayer priests could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the soothsayer priests as well as on all the Egyptians.
12
But the
Lord
hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not listen to them, just as the
Lord
had spoken to Moses.
13
Then the
Lord
said to Moses, 'Rise up early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the
Lord
, the God of the Hebrews says: 'Let My people go, so that they may serve Me.
King James Version
Chapter 9
8
And the
Lord
said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.
9
And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.
10
And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast.
11
And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.
12
And the
Lord
hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the
Lord
had spoken unto Moses.
13
And the
Lord
said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the
Lord
God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 9
8
Then the
Lord
said to Moses and Aaron, "Take handfuls of furnace soot, and Moses is to throw it toward heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.
9
It will become fine dust over the entire land of Egypt. It will become festering boils on people and animals throughout the land of Egypt."
10
So they took furnace soot and stood before Pharaoh. Moses threw it toward heaven, and it became festering boils on people and animals.
11
The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians as well as on all the Egyptians.
12
But the
Lord
hardened Pharaoh’s heart and he did not listen to them, as the
Lord
had told Moses.
13
Then the
Lord
said to Moses, "Get up early in the morning and present yourself to Pharaoh. Tell him: This is what the
Lord
, the God of the Hebrews says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.
New Living Translation
Chapter 9
8
Then the
Lord
said to Moses and Aaron, 'Take handfuls of soot from a brick kiln, and have Moses toss it into the air while Pharaoh watches.
9
The ashes will spread like fine dust over the whole land of Egypt, causing festering boils to break out on people and animals throughout the land.'
10
So they took soot from a brick kiln and went and stood before Pharaoh. As Pharaoh watched, Moses threw the soot into the air, and boils broke out on people and animals alike.
11
Even the magicians were unable to stand before Moses, because the boils had broken out on them and all the Egyptians.
12
But the
Lord
hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and just as the
Lord
had predicted to Moses, Pharaoh refused to listen.
13
Then the
Lord
said to Moses, 'Get up early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh. Tell him, ‘This is what the
Lord
, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so they can worship me.
