Exodus 8:20-24
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 8
20
Then the
Lord
said to Moses, 'Rise early in the morning and present yourself before Pharaoh, as he comes out to the water; and say to him, ‘This is what the
Lord
says: 'Let My people go, so that they may serve Me.
21
For if you are not going to let My people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies on you and on your servants and on your people, and into your houses; and the houses of the Egyptians will be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground on which they
live.
22
But on that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, where My people are living, so that no swarms of flies will be there, in order that you may know that I, the
Lord
, am in the midst of the land.
23
I will put a division between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign will occur.'?’?'
24
Then the
Lord
did so. And thick swarms of flies entered the house of Pharaoh and the houses of his servants, and the land was laid waste because of the swarms of flies in all the land of Egypt.
King James Version
Chapter 8
20
And the
Lord
said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus saith the
Lord
, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
21
Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.
22
And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the
Lord
in the midst of the earth.
23
And I will put a division between my people and thy people: to morrow shall this sign be.
24
And the
Lord
did so; and there came a grievous swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants' houses, and into all the land of Egypt: the land was corrupted by reason of the swarm of flies.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 8
20
The
Lord
said to Moses, "Get up early in the morning and present yourself to Pharaoh when you see him going out to the water. Tell him: This is what the
Lord
says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.
21
But if you will not let my people go, then I will send swarms of flies against you, your officials, your people, and your houses. The Egyptians’ houses will swarm with flies, and so will the land where they live.
22
But on that day I will give special treatment to the land of Goshen, where my people are living; no flies will be there. This way you will know that I, the
Lord
, am in the land.
23
I will make a distinction between my people and your people. This sign will take place tomorrow."
24
And the
Lord
did this. Thick swarms of flies went into Pharaoh’s palace and his officials’ houses. Throughout Egypt the land was ruined because of the swarms of flies.
New Living Translation
Chapter 8
20
Then the
Lord
told Moses, 'Get up early in the morning and stand in Pharaoh’s way as he goes down to the river. Say to him, ‘This is what the
Lord
says: Let my people go, so they can worship me.
21
If you refuse, then I will send swarms of flies on you, your officials, your people, and all the houses. The Egyptian homes will be filled with flies, and the ground will be covered with them.
22
But this time I will spare the region of Goshen, where my people live. No flies will be found there. Then you will know that I am the
Lord
and that I am present even in the heart of your land.
23
I will make a clear distinction between my people and your people. This miraculous sign will happen tomorrow.’'
24
And the
Lord
did just as he had said. A thick swarm of flies filled Pharaoh’s palace and the houses of his officials. The whole land of Egypt was thrown into chaos by the flies.
English Standard Version
