Exodus 6:2-11
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 6
2
God spoke further to Moses and said to him, 'I am the
Lord
;
3
and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, but
by
My name,
Lord
, I did not make Myself known to them.
4
I also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as strangers.
5
Furthermore I have heard the groaning of the sons of Israel, because the Egyptians are holding them in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.
6
Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel, ‘I am the
Lord
, and I will bring you out from under the labors of the Egyptians, and I will rescue you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments.
7
Then I will take you as My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the
Lord
your God, who brought you out from under the labors of the Egyptians.
8
I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you
as
a possession; I am the
Lord
.’?'
9
So Moses said this to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on account of
their
despondency and cruel bondage.
10
Now the
Lord
spoke to Moses, saying,
11
Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the sons of Israel go out of his land.'
King James Version
Chapter 6
2
And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the
Lord
:
3
And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
4
And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.
5
And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
6
Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the
Lord
, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
7
And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the
Lord
your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
8
And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the
Lord
.
9
And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
10
And the
Lord
spake unto Moses, saying,
11
Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.

Chapter 6
2
Then God spoke to Moses, telling him, "I am the
Lord
.
3
I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, but I was not known to them by my name ‘the
Lord
.’
4
I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land they lived in as aliens.
5
Furthermore, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are forcing to work as slaves, and I have remembered my covenant.
6
"Therefore tell the Israelites: I am the
Lord
, and I will bring you out from the forced labor of the Egyptians and rescue you from slavery to them. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and great acts of judgment.
7
I will take you as my people, and I will be your God. You will know that I am the
Lord
your God, who brought you out from the forced labor of the Egyptians.
8
I will bring you to the land that I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you as a possession. I am the
Lord
."
9
Moses told this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their broken spirit and hard labor.
10
Then the
Lord
spoke to Moses,
11
"Go and tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go from his land."
New Living Translation
Chapter 6
2
And God said to Moses, 'I am Yahweh — ‘the
Lord
.’
3
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El-Shaddai — ‘God Almighty’ — but I did not reveal my name, Yahweh, to them.
4
And I reaffirmed my covenant with them. Under its terms, I promised to give them the land of Canaan, where they were living as foreigners.
5
You can be sure that I have heard the groans of the people of Israel, who are now slaves to the Egyptians. And I am well aware of my covenant with them.
6
Therefore, say to the people of Israel: ‘I am the
Lord
. I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment.
7
I will claim you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the
Lord
your God who has freed you from your oppression in Egypt.
8
I will bring you into the land I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I will give it to you as your very own possession. I am the
Lord
!’'
9
So Moses told the people of Israel what the
Lord
had said, but they refused to listen anymore. They had become too discouraged by the brutality of their slavery.
10
Then the
Lord
said to Moses,
11
Go back to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and tell him to let the people of Israel leave his country.'

Chapter 6
2
God spoke to Moses and said to him, "I am the
Lord
.
3
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name the
Lord
I did not make myself known to them.
4
I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as sojourners.
5
Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the people of Israel whom the Egyptians hold as slaves, and I have remembered my covenant.
6
Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the
Lord
, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment.
7
I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the
Lord
your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
8
I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you for a possession. I am the
Lord
.’"
9
Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery.
10
So the
Lord
said to Moses,
11
"Go in, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the people of Israel go out of his land."
New International Version
Chapter 6
2
God also said to Moses, "I am the
Lord
.
3
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the
Lord
I did not make myself fully known to them.
4
I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners.
5
Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.
6
"Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the
Lord
, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
7
I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the
Lord
your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
8
And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the
Lord
.’ "
9
Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor.
10
Then the
Lord
said to Moses,
11
"Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country."
New King James Version
