Exodus 32:30-35
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 32
30
And on the next day Moses said to the people, 'You yourselves have committed a great sin; and now I am going up to the
Lord
; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.'
31
Then Moses returned to the
Lord
and said, 'Oh, this people has committed a great sin, and they have made a god of gold for themselves!
32
But now, if You will forgive their sin,
very well;
but if not, please wipe me out from Your book which You have written!'
33
However, the
Lord
said to Moses, 'Whoever has sinned against Me, I will wipe him out of My book.
34
But go now, lead the people where I told you. Behold, My angel shall go before you; nevertheless on the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin.'
35
Then the
Lord
struck the people
with a plague,
because of what they did with the calf which Aaron had made.
King James Version
Chapter 32
30
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the
Lord
; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.
31
And Moses returned unto the
Lord
, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.
32
Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
33
And the
Lord
said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
34
Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.
35
And the
Lord
plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 32
30
The following day Moses said to the people, "You have committed a grave sin. Now I will go up to the
Lord
; perhaps I will be able to atone for your sin."
31
So Moses returned to the
Lord
and said, "Oh, these people have committed a grave sin; they have made a god of gold for themselves.
32
Now if you would only forgive their sin. But if not, please erase me from the book you have written."
33
The
Lord
replied to Moses: "Whoever has sinned against me I will erase from my book.
34
Now go, lead the people to the place I told you about; see, my angel will go before you. But on the day I settle accounts, I will hold them accountable for their sin."
35
And the
Lord
inflicted a plague on the people for what they did with the calf Aaron had made.
New Living Translation
Chapter 32
30
The next day Moses said to the people, 'You have committed a terrible sin, but I will go back up to the
Lord
on the mountain. Perhaps I will be able to obtain forgiveness for your sin.'
31
So Moses returned to the
Lord
and said, 'Oh, what a terrible sin these people have committed. They have made gods of gold for themselves.
32
But now, if you will only forgive their sin — but if not, erase my name from the record you have written!'
33
But the
Lord
replied to Moses, 'No, I will erase the name of everyone who has sinned against me.
34
Now go, lead the people to the place I told you about. Look! My angel will lead the way before you. And when I come to call the people to account, I will certainly hold them responsible for their sins.'
35
Then the
Lord
sent a great plague upon the people because they had worshiped the calf Aaron had made.

Chapter 32
30
The next day Moses said to the people, "You have sinned a great sin. And now I will go up to the
Lord
; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin."
31
So Moses returned to the
Lord
and said, "Alas, this people has sinned a great sin. They have made for themselves gods of gold.
32
But now, if you will forgive their sin — but if not, please blot me out of your book that you have written."
33
But the
Lord
said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against me, I will blot out of my book.
34
But now go, lead the people to the place about which I have spoken to you; behold, my angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, in the day when I visit, I will visit their sin upon them."
35
Then the
Lord
sent a plague on the people, because they made the calf, the one that Aaron made.
