Exodus 32:11-14
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 32
11
Then Moses pleaded with the
Lord
his God, and said, '
Lord
, why does Your anger burn against Your people whom You have brought out from the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?
12
Why should the Egyptians talk, saying, ‘With evil
motives
He brought them out, to kill them on the mountains and to destroy them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your burning anger and relent of
doing
harm to Your people.
13
Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants to whom You swore by Yourself, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heavens, and all this land of which I have spoken I will give to your descendants, and they shall inherit
it
forever.’?'
14
So the
Lord
relented of the harm which He said He would do to His people.
King James Version
Chapter 32
11
And Moses besought the
Lord
his God, and said,
Lord
, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
12
Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.
13
Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.
14
And the
Lord
repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 32
11
But Moses sought the favor of the
Lord
his God: "
Lord
, why does your anger burn against your people you brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and a strong hand?
12
Why should the Egyptians say, ‘He brought them out with an evil intent to kill them in the mountains and eliminate them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger and relent concerning this disaster planned for your people.
13
Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Israel—you swore to them by yourself and declared, ‘I will make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky and will give your offspring all this land that I have promised, and they will inherit it forever.’"
14
So the
Lord
relented concerning the disaster he had said he would bring on his people.
New Living Translation
Chapter 32
11
But Moses tried to pacify the
Lord
his God. 'O
Lord
!' he said. 'Why are you so angry with your own people whom you brought from the land of Egypt with such great power and such a strong hand?
12
Why let the Egyptians say, ‘Their God rescued them with the evil intention of slaughtering them in the mountains and wiping them from the face of the earth’? Turn away from your fierce anger. Change your mind about this terrible disaster you have threatened against your people!
13
Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You bound yourself with an oath to them, saying, ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars of heaven. And I will give them all of this land that I have promised to your descendants, and they will possess it forever.’'
14
So the
Lord
changed his mind about the terrible disaster he had threatened to bring on his people.
English Standard Version
Chapter 32
11
But Moses implored the
Lord
his God and said, "O
Lord
, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?
12
Why should the Egyptians say, ‘With evil intent did he bring them out, to kill them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your burning anger and relent from this disaster against your people.
13
Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’"
14
And the
Lord
relented from the disaster that he had spoken of bringing on his people.

13
Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’ "
