Deuteronomy 4:15-18
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 4
15
So be very careful yourselves, since you did not see any form on the day the
Lord
spoke to you at Horeb from the midst of the fire,
16
so that you do not act corruptly and make a carved image for yourselves in the form of any figure, a representation of male or female,
17
a representation of any animal that is on the earth, a representation of any winged bird that flies in the sky,
18
a representation of anything that crawls on the ground,
or
a representation of any fish that is in the water below the earth.
King James Version
Chapter 4
15
Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the
Lord
spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:
16
Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
17
The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air,
18
The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 4
15
"Diligently watch yourselves—because you did not see any form on the day the
Lord
spoke to you out of the fire at Horeb—
16
so you don’t act corruptly and make an idol for yourselves in the shape of any figure: a male or female form,
17
or the form of any animal on the earth, any winged creature that flies in the sky,
18
any creature that crawls on the ground, or any fish in the waters under the earth.
New Living Translation
Chapter 4
15
But be very careful! You did not see the
Lord
’s form on the day he spoke to you from the heart of the fire at Mount Sinai.
16
So do not corrupt yourselves by making an idol in any form — whether of a man or a woman,
17
an animal on the ground, a bird in the sky,
18
a small animal that scurries along the ground, or a fish in the deepest sea.
English Standard Version
Chapter 4
15
"Therefore watch yourselves very carefully. Since you saw no form on the day that the
Lord
spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire,
16
beware lest you act corruptly by making a carved image for yourselves, in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
17
the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air,
18
the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth.
New International Version
Chapter 4
15
You saw no form of any kind the day the
Lord
spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully,
16
so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman,
17
or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air,
18
or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below.
New King James Version
Chapter 4
15
“Take careful heed to yourselves, for you saw no form when the
Lord
spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire,
16
lest you act corruptly and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of any figure: the likeness of male or female,
17
the likeness of any animal that
is
on the earth or the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air,
18
the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground or the likeness of any fish that
is
in the water beneath the earth.
