Deuteronomy 24:15-17
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 24
15
You shall give him his wages on his day before the sun sets—for he is poor and sets his heart on it—so that he does not cry out against you to the
Lord
, and it becomes a sin in you.
16
Fathers shall not be put to death for
their
sons, nor shall sons be put to death for
their
fathers; everyone shall be put to death for his own sin
alone.
17
You shall not pervert the justice due a stranger
or
an orphan, nor seize a widow’s garment as a pledge.
King James Version
Chapter 24
15
At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the
Lord
, and it be sin unto thee.
16
The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
17
Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge:
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 24
15
You are to pay him his wages each day before the sun sets, because he is poor and depends on them. Otherwise he will cry out to the
Lord
against you, and you will be held guilty.
16
"Fathers are not to be put to death for their children, and children are not to be put to death for their fathers; each person will be put to death for his own sin.
17
Do not deny justice to a resident alien or fatherless child, and do not take a widow’s garment as security.
New Living Translation
Chapter 24
15
You must pay them their wages each day before sunset because they are poor and are counting on it. If you don’t, they might cry out to the
Lord
against you, and it would be counted against you as sin.
16
Parents must not be put to death for the sins of their children, nor children for the sins of their parents. Those deserving to die must be put to death for their own crimes.
17
True justice must be given to foreigners living among you and to orphans, and you must never accept a widow’s garment as security for her debt.
English Standard Version
Chapter 24
15
You shall give him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets (for he is poor and counts on it), lest he cry against you to the
Lord
, and you be guilty of sin.
16
"Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.
17
"You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless, or take a widow 's garment in pledge,
New International Version

15
Each day you shall give
him

is

Lord
, and it be sin to you.
16
“Fathers shall not be put to death for
their
children, nor shall children be put to death for
their
fathers; a person shall be put to death for his own sin.
17
