Deuteronomy 22:3-22
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 22
3You shall also do this with his donkey, and you shall do the same with his garment, and you shall do likewise with any lost property of your countryman, which has been lost by him and you have found. You are not allowed to avoid them. 4You shall not see your countryman’s donkey or his ox fallen down on the road, and avoid them; you shall certainly help him raise them up.
6If you happen to come upon a bird’s nest along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs in it, and the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young;
7you shall certainly let the mother go, but the young you may take for yourself, in order that it may go well for you and that you may prolong your days.
12You shall make yourself tassels on the four corners of your garment with which you cover yourself.
13If any man takes a wife and goes in to her and then turns against her,
14and he charges her with shameful behavior and publicly defames her, and says, ‘I took this woman, but when I came near her, I did not find her to have evidence of virginity,’
15then the girl’s father and her mother shall take and bring out the evidence of the girl’s virginity to the elders of the city at the gate.
16And the girl’s father shall say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man as a wife, but he turned against her;
17and behold, he has charged her with shameful behavior, saying, 'I did not find your daughter to have evidence of virginity.' But this is the evidence of my daughter’s virginity.’ And they shall spread out the garment before the elders of the city.
18Then the elders of that city shall take the man and rebuke him,
19and they shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give it to the girl’s father, because he publicly defamed a virgin of Israel. And she shall remain his wife; he is not allowed to divorce her all his days.
20But if this charge is true, and they did not find the girl to have evidence of virginity,
21then they shall bring the girl out to the doorway of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death, because she has committed a disgraceful sin in Israel by playing the prostitute in her father’s house; so you shall eliminate the evil from among you.
King James Version
Chapter 22
3In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself. 4Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.
6If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:
7But thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.
8When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.
9Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.
10Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together.
11Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woolen and linen together.
12Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.
13If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
14And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
15Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
16And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;
17And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
18And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
19And they shall amerce him in a hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
20But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
21Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.

Chapter 22
3Do the same for his donkey, his garment, or anything your brother has lost and you have found. You must not ignore it. 4If you see your brother’s donkey or ox fallen down on the road, do not ignore it; help him lift it up.
6"If you come across a bird’s nest with chicks or eggs, either in a tree or on the ground along the road, and the mother is sitting on the chicks or eggs, do not take the mother along with the young.
7You may take the young for yourself, but be sure to let the mother go free, so that you may prosper and live long.
8If you build a new house, make a railing around your roof, so that you don’t bring bloodguilt on your house if someone falls from it.
9Do not plant your vineyard with two types of seed; otherwise, the entire harvest, both the crop you plant and the produce of the vineyard, will be defiled.
10Do not plow with an ox and a donkey together.
11Do not wear clothes made of both wool and linen.
12Make tassels on the four corners of the outer garment you wear.
13"If a man marries a woman, has sexual relations with her, and comes to hate her,
14and accuses her of shameful conduct, and gives her a bad name, saying, ‘I married this woman and was intimate with her, but I didn’t find any evidence of her virginity,’
15the young woman’s father and mother will take the evidence of her virginity and bring it to the city elders at the city gate.
16The young woman’s father will say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man as a wife, but he hates her.
17He has accused her of shameful conduct, saying: "I didn’t find any evidence of your daughter’s virginity," but here is the evidence of my daughter’s virginity.’ They will spread out the cloth before the city elders.
18Then the elders of that city will take the man and punish him.
19They will also fine him a hundred silver shekels and give them to the young woman’s father, because that man gave an Israelite virgin a bad name. She will remain his wife; he cannot divorce her as long as he lives.
20But if this accusation is true and no evidence of the young woman’s virginity is found,
21they will bring the woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city will stone her to death. For she has committed an outrage in Israel by being promiscuous while living in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from you.
New Living Translation
6If you happen to find a bird’s nest in a tree or on the ground, and there are young ones or eggs in it with the mother sitting in the nest, do not take the mother with the young.
7You may take the young, but let the mother go, so that you may prosper and enjoy a long life.
13Suppose a man marries a woman, but after sleeping with her, he turns against her
14and publicly accuses her of shameful conduct, saying, ‘When I married this woman, I discovered she was not a virgin.’
15Then the woman’s father and mother must bring the proof of her virginity to the elders as they hold court at the town gate.
16Her father must say to them, ‘I gave my daughter to this man to be his wife, and now he has turned against her.
17He has accused her of shameful conduct, saying, 'I discovered that your daughter was not a virgin.' But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.’ Then they must spread her bed sheet before the elders.
18The elders must then take the man and punish him.
19They must also fine him 100 pieces of silver, which he must pay to the woman’s father because he publicly accused a virgin of Israel of shameful conduct. The woman will then remain the man’s wife, and he may never divorce her.
20But suppose the man’s accusations are true, and he can show that she was not a virgin.
21The woman must be taken to the door of her father’s home, and there the men of the town must stone her to death, for she has committed a disgraceful crime in Israel by being promiscuous while living in her parents’ home. In this way, you will purge this evil from among you.

20But if the thing is true, that evidence of virginity was not found in the young woman,
21then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father 's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done an outrageous thing in Israel by whoring in her father 's house. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.

17Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity." Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town,

19They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.

21she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you.
