Chapter 1

42But the LORD said to me, ‘Say to them, 'Do not go up nor fight, for I am not among you; otherwise you will be defeated by your enemies.'?’ 43So I spoke to you, but you would not listen. Instead, you rebelled against the command of the LORD, and acted presumptuously and went up into the hill country.

42And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies. 43So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

42"But the Lord said to me, 'Tell them: Don't go up and fight, for I am not with you to keep you from being defeated by your enemies.' 43So I spoke to you, but you didn't listen. You rebelled against the Lord's command and defiantly went up into the hill country.

42'But the LORD told me to tell you, 'Do not attack, for I am not with you. If you go ahead on your own, you will be crushed by your enemies.'
43'This is what I told you, but you would not listen. Instead, you again rebelled against the LORD's command and arrogantly went into the hill country to fight.

42But the LORD said to me, 'Tell them, 'Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you. You will be defeated by your enemies.''
43So I told you, but you would not listen. You rebelled against the LORD's command and in your arrogance you marched up into the hill country.
