Deuteronomy 18:5-10
New American Standard Bible
6Now if a Levite comes from any of your towns throughout Israel where he resides, and he comes whenever he desires to the place which the Lord chooses,
7then he shall serve in the name of the Lord his God, like all his fellow Levites who stand there before the Lord.
8They shall eat equal portions, except for what they receive from the sale of their fathers’ estates.
9When you enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations.
10There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, a soothsayer, one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
King James Version
Chapter 18
5For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever. 6And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose; 7Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD. 8They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony.
9When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

Chapter 18
5For the Lord your God has chosen him and his sons from all your tribes to stand and minister in his name from now on. 6When a Levite leaves one of your towns in Israel where he was staying and wants to go to the place the Lord chooses, 7he may serve in the name of the Lord his God like all his fellow Levites who minister there in the presence of the Lord. 8They will eat equal portions besides what he has received from the sale of the family estate.New Living Translation
6Suppose a Levite chooses to move from his town in Israel, wherever he is living, to the place the Lord chooses for worship.
7He may minister there in the name of the Lord his God, just like all his fellow Levites who are serving the Lord there.
8He may eat his share of the sacrifices and offerings, even if he also receives support from his family.
9When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there.
10For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft,
English Standard Version
6“And if a Levite comes from any of your towns out of all Israel, where he lives—and he may come when he desires—to the place that the LORD will choose,
7and ministers in the name of the LORD his God, like all his fellow Levites who stand to minister there before the LORD,
8then he may have equal portions to eat, besides what he receives from the sale of his patrimony.
9“When you come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations.
10There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer
New International Version
6If a Levite moves from one of your towns anywhere in Israel where he is living, and comes in all earnestness to the place the LORD will choose,
7he may minister in the name of the LORD his God like all his fellow Levites who serve there in the presence of the LORD.
8He is to share equally in their benefits, even though he has received money from the sale of family possessions.
New King James Version
6“So if a Levite comes from any of your gates, from where he dwells among all Israel, and comes with all the desire of his mind to the place which the Lord chooses,
7then he may serve in the name of the Lord his God as all his brethren the Levites do, who stand there before the Lord.
8They shall have equal portions to eat, besides what comes from the sale of his inheritance.
9“When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations.
10There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
