Amos 7:12-15
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 7
12
Then Amaziah said to Amos, 'Go, you seer, flee to the land of Judah; and eat bread there and do your prophesying there!
13
But do not prophesy at Bethel any longer, for it is a sanctuary of the king and a royal residence.'
14
Then Amos replied to Amaziah, 'I am not a prophet, nor am I the son of a prophet; for I am a herdsman and a grower of sycamore figs.
15
But the
Lord
took me from following the flock, and the
Lord
said to me, ‘Go prophesy to My people Israel.’
King James Version
Chapter 7
12
Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
13
But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it
is
the king's chapel, and it
is
the king's court.
14
Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I
was
no prophet, neither
was
I a prophet's son; but I
was
a herdsman, and a gatherer of sycamore fruit:
15
And the
Lord
took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 7
12
Then Amaziah said to Amos, "Go away, you seer! Flee to the land of Judah. Earn your living and give your prophecies there,
13
but don’t ever prophesy at Bethel again, for it is the king’s sanctuary and a royal temple."
14
So Amos answered Amaziah, "I was not a prophet or the son of a prophet; rather, I was a herdsman, and I took care of sycamore figs.
15
But the
Lord
took me from following the flock and said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’"
New Living Translation
Chapter 7
12
Then Amaziah sent orders to Amos: 'Get out of here, you prophet! Go on back to the land of Judah, and earn your living by prophesying there!
13
Don’t bother us with your prophecies here in Bethel. This is the king’s sanctuary and the national place of worship!'
14
But Amos replied, 'I’m not a professional prophet, and I was never trained to be one. I’m just a shepherd, and I take care of sycamore-fig trees.
15
But the
Lord
called me away from my flock and told me, ‘Go and prophesy to my people in Israel.’
English Standard Version
Chapter 7
12
And Amaziah said to Amos, "O seer, go, flee away to the land of Judah, and eat bread there, and prophesy there,
13
but never again prophesy at Bethel, for it is the king 's sanctuary, and it is a temple of the kingdom."
14
Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah, "I was no prophet, nor a prophet 's son, but I was a herdsman and a dresser of sycamore figs.
15
But the
Lord
took me from following the flock, and the
Lord
said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’
New International Version
Chapter 7
12
Then Amaziah said to Amos, "Get out, you seer! Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there.
13
Don’t prophesy anymore at Bethel, because this is the king’s sanctuary and the temple of the kingdom."
14
Amos answered Amaziah, "I was neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees.
15
But the
Lord
took me from tending the flock and said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’
New King James Version
Chapter 7
12
Then Amaziah said to Amos:
“Go, you seer!
Flee to the land of Judah.
There eat bread,
And there prophesy.
13
But never again prophesy at Bethel,
For it
is
the king’s sanctuary,
And it
is
the royal residence.”
14
Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah:
“I
was
no prophet,
Nor
was
I a son of a prophet,
But I
was
a sheepbreeder
And a tender of sycamore fruit.
15
Then the
Lord
took me as I followed the flock,
And the
Lord
said to me,
‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’
