Chapter 1

2 And he said, 'The LORD roars from Zion, And from Jerusalem He utters His voice; And the shepherds’ pasture grounds mourn, And the summit of Carmel dries up.' 3 This is what the LORD says: 'For three offenses of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke its punishment, Because they threshed Gilead with iron sledges. 4 So I will send fire upon the house of Hazael, And it will consume the citadels of Ben-hadad.

2 And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
3 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron: 4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.

3 The Lord says: I will not relent from punishing Damascus for three crimes, even four, because they threshed Gilead with iron sledges. 4 Therefore, I will send fire against Hazael's palace, and it will consume Ben-hadad's citadels.

2 This is what he saw and heard: 'The LORD's voice will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem! The lush pastures of the shepherds will dry up; the grass on Mount Carmel will wither and die.'
3 This is what the LORD says: 'The people of Damascus have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! They beat down my people in Gilead as grain is threshed with iron sledges. 4 So I will send down fire on King Hazael's palace, and the fortresses of King Ben-hadad will be destroyed.
