Acts 5:11-21
New American Standard Bible
12At the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were taking place among the people; and they were all together in Solomon’s portico.
13But none of the rest dared to associate with them; however, the people held them in high esteem.
14And increasingly believers in the Lord, large numbers of men and women, were being added to their number,
15to such an extent that they even carried the sick out into the streets and laid them on cots and pallets, so that when Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on any of them.
16The people from the cities in the vicinity of Jerusalem were coming together as well, bringing people who were sick or tormented with unclean spirits, and they were all being healed.
17But the high priest stood up, along with all his associates (that is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy.
18They laid hands on the apostles and put them in a public prison.
19But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the gates of the prison, and leading them out, he said,
20Go, stand and speak to the people in the temple area the whole message of this Life.'
King James Version
12And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.
13And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.
14And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
15Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
17Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,
18And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
19But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
20Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
21And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
Christian Standard Bible
12Many signs and wonders were being done among the people through the hands of the apostles. They were all together in Solomon’s Colonnade.
13No one else dared to join them, but the people spoke well of them.
14Believers were added to the Lord in increasing numbers—multitudes of both men and women.
15As a result, they would carry the sick out into the streets and lay them on cots and mats so that when Peter came by, at least his shadow might fall on some of them.
16In addition, a multitude came together from the towns surrounding Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
17Then the high priest rose up. He and all who were with him, who belonged to the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy.
18So they arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail.
19But an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail during the night, brought them out, and said,
20"Go and stand in the temple, and tell the people all about this life."
New Living Translation
12The apostles were performing many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers were meeting regularly at the Temple in the area known as Solomon’s Colonnade.
13But no one else dared to join them, even though all the people had high regard for them.
14Yet more and more people believed and were brought to the Lord — crowds of both men and women.
15As a result of the apostles’ work, sick people were brought out into the streets on beds and mats so that Peter’s shadow might fall across some of them as he went by.
16Crowds came from the villages around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those possessed by evil spirits, and they were all healed.
17The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy.
18They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail.
19But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them,
20Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!'
