Acts 4:8-13
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 4
8
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, 'Rulers and elders of the people,
9
if we are on trial today for a benefit done to a sick man, as to how this man has been made well,
10
let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead— by this
name
this man stands here before you in good health.
11
He is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS,
but
WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE.
12
And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.'
13
Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and
began
to recognize them as having been with Jesus.
King James Version
Chapter 4
8
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9
If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11
This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
13
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 4
8
Then Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders:
9
If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man, by what means he was healed,
10
let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing here before you healthy.
11
This Jesus is
the stone rejected by you builders,
which has become the cornerstone.
12
There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved."
13
When they observed the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and recognized that they had been with Jesus.
New Living Translation
Chapter 4
8
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, 'Rulers and elders of our people,
9
are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed?
10
Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.
11
For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,
‘The stone that you builders rejected
has now become the cornerstone.’
12
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.'
13
The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.
English Standard Version
Chapter 4
8
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders,
9
if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed,
10
let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead — by him this man is standing before you well.
11
This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.
12
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
13
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.
New International Version
Chapter 4
8
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: "Rulers and elders of the people!
9
If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed,
10
then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.
11
Jesus is
" ‘the stone you builders rejected,
which has become the cornerstone.’
12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."
13
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
New King James Version
Chapter 4
8
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:
9
If we this day are judged for a good deed
done
to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well,
10
let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.
