Acts 26:24-27
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 26
24
While Paul was stating these things in his defense, Festus *said in a loud voice, 'Paul, you are out of your mind!
Your
great learning is driving you insane.'
25
But Paul *said, 'I am not insane, most excellent Festus; on the contrary, I am speaking out
with
truthful and rational words.
26
For the king knows about these matters, and I also speak to him with confidence, since I am persuaded that none of these things escape his notice; for this has not been done in a corner.
27
King Agrippa, do you believe the Prophets? I know that you believe.'
King James Version
Chapter 26
24
And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.
25
But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.
26
For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.
27
King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 26
24
As he was saying these things in his defense, Festus exclaimed in a loud voice, "You’re out of your mind, Paul! Too much study is driving you mad."
25
But Paul replied, "I’m not out of my mind, most excellent Festus. On the contrary, I’m speaking words of truth and good judgment.
26
For the king knows about these matters, and I can speak boldly to him. For I am convinced that none of these things has escaped his notice, since this was not done in a corner.
27
King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you believe."
New Living Translation
Chapter 26
24
Suddenly, Festus shouted, 'Paul, you are insane. Too much study has made you crazy!'
25
But Paul replied, 'I am not insane, Most Excellent Festus. What I am saying is the sober truth.
26
And King Agrippa knows about these things. I speak boldly, for I am sure these events are all familiar to him, for they were not done in a corner!
27
King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you do — '
English Standard Version
Chapter 26
24
And as he was saying these things in his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, "Paul, you are out of your mind; your great learning is driving you out of your mind."
25
But Paul said, "I am not out of my mind, most excellent Festus, but I am speaking true and rational words.
26
For the king knows about these things, and to him I speak boldly. For I am persuaded that none of these things has escaped his notice, for this has not been done in a corner.
27
King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe."
New International Version
Chapter 26
24
At this point Festus interrupted Paul’s defense. "You are out of your mind, Paul!" he shouted. "Your great learning is driving you insane."
25
"I am not insane, most excellent Festus," Paul replied. "What I am saying is true and reasonable.
26
The king is familiar with these things, and I can speak freely to him. I am convinced that none of this has escaped his notice, because it was not done in a corner.
27
King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you do."
New King James Version
Chapter 26
24
Now as he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Paul, you are beside yourself! Much learning is driving you mad!”
25
But he said, “I am not mad, most noble Festus, but speak the words of truth and reason.
26
For the king, before whom I also speak freely, knows these things; for I am convinced that none of these things escapes his attention, since this thing was not done in a corner.
27
King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe.”
