Acts 23:7-9
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 23
7
When he said this, a dissension occurred between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
8
For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor an angel, nor a spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.
9
And a great uproar occurred; and some of the scribes of the Pharisaic party stood up and
started
arguing heatedly, saying, 'We find nothing wrong with this man; suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?'
King James Version
Chapter 23
7
And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.
8
For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.
9
And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 23
7
When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
8
For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection, and neither angel nor spirit, but the Pharisees affirm them all.
9
The shouting grew loud, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ party got up and argued vehemently: "We find nothing evil in this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?"
New Living Translation
Chapter 23
7
This divided the council — the Pharisees against the Sadducees —
8
for the Sadducees say there is no resurrection or angels or spirits, but the Pharisees believe in all of these.
9
So there was a great uproar. Some of the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees jumped up and began to argue forcefully. 'We see nothing wrong with him,' they shouted. 'Perhaps a spirit or an angel spoke to him.'
English Standard Version
Chapter 23

And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
8
For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.
9
Then a great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees ' party stood up and contended sharply, "We find nothing wrong in this man. What if a spirit or an angel spoke to him?"
New International Version

When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
8
(The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, and that there are neither angels nor spirits, but the Pharisees believe all these things.)
9
There was a great uproar, and some of the teachers of the law who were Pharisees stood up and argued vigorously. "We find nothing wrong with this man," they said. "What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?"
New King James Version
Chapter 23
7
And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided.
8
For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection—and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.
