Acts 21:8-15
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 21
8
On the next day we left and came to Caesarea, and we entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him.
9
Now this man had four virgin daughters who were prophetesses.
10
As we were staying there for some days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.
11
And he came to us and took Paul’s belt and bound his own feet and hands, and said, 'This is what the Holy Spirit says: ‘In this way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and hand him over to the Gentiles.’?'
12
When we had heard this, we as well as the local residents
began
begging him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13
Then Paul replied, 'What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.'
14
And since he would not be persuaded, we became quiet, remarking, 'The will of the Lord be done!'
15
After these days we got ready and started on our way up to Jerusalem.
King James Version
Chapter 21
8
And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.
9
And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
10
And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11
And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12
And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13
Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
14
And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
15
And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.

Chapter 21
8
The next day we left and came to Caesarea, where we entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the Seven, and stayed with him.
9
This man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.
10
After we had been there for several days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.
11
He came to us, took Paul’s belt, tied his own feet and hands, and said, "This is what the Holy Spirit says: ‘In this way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him over to the Gentiles.’"
12
When we heard this, both we and the local people pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13
Then Paul replied, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."
14
Since he would not be persuaded, we said no more except, "The Lord’s will be done."
15
After this we got ready and went up to Jerusalem.
New Living Translation
Chapter 21
8
The next day we went on to Caesarea and stayed at the home of Philip the Evangelist, one of the seven men who had been chosen to distribute food.
9
He had four unmarried daughters who had the gift of prophecy.
10
Several days later a man named Agabus, who also had the gift of prophecy, arrived from Judea.
11
He came over, took Paul’s belt, and bound his own feet and hands with it. Then he said, 'The Holy Spirit declares, ‘So shall the owner of this belt be bound by the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem and turned over to the Gentiles.’'
12
When we heard this, we and the local believers all begged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.
13
But he said, 'Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but even to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.'
14
When it was clear that we couldn’t persuade him, we gave up and said, 'The Lord’s will be done.'
15
After this we packed our things and left for Jerusalem.
