Acts 1:6-12
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 1
6
So, when they had come together, they
began
asking Him, saying, 'Lord, is it at this time that You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?'
7
But He said to them, 'It is not for you to know periods of time or appointed times which the Father has set by His own authority;
8
but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth.'
9
And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were watching, and a cloud took Him up, out of their sight.
10
And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, then behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them,
11
and they said, 'Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.'
12
Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.
King James Version
Chapter 1
6
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
12
Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 1
6
So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?"
7
He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.
8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
9
After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
10
While he was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them.
11
They said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen him going into heaven."
12
Then they returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, which is near Jerusalem—a Sabbath day’s journey away.
New Living Translation
Chapter 1
6
So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, 'Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?'
7
He replied, 'The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.
8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere — in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.'
9
After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him.
10
As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them.
11
Men of Galilee,' they said, 'why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!'
12
Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, a distance of half a mile.

Chapter 1
6
So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"
7
He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.
8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
9
And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
10
And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes,
11

Chapter 1
6
Then they gathered around him and asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"
7
He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.
8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
9
After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10
They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.
11
"Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."
12
Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city.
