1 Samuel 28:17-20
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 28
17
And the
Lord
has done just as He spoke through me; for the
Lord
has torn the kingdom from your hand and given it to your neighbor, to David.
18
Just as you did not obey the
Lord
and did not execute His fierce wrath on Amalek, so the
Lord
has done this thing to you this day.
19
Furthermore, the
Lord
will also hand Israel along with you over to the Philistines; so tomorrow you and your sons
will be
with me. Indeed, the
Lord
will hand the army of Israel over to the Philistines!'
20
Then Saul immediately fell full length to the ground and was very afraid because of Samuel’s words; there was no strength in him either, because he had eaten no food all day and all night.
King James Version
Chapter 28
17
And the
Lord
hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the
Lord
hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David:
18
Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the
Lord
, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the
Lord
done this thing unto thee this day.
19
Moreover the
Lord
will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the
Lord
also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.
20
Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 28
17
The
Lord
has done exactly what he said through me: The
Lord
has torn the kingship out of your hand and given it to your neighbor David.
18
You did not obey the
Lord
and did not carry out his burning anger against Amalek; therefore the
Lord
has done this to you today.
19
The
Lord
will also hand Israel over to the Philistines along with you. Tomorrow you and your sons will be with me, and the
Lord
will hand Israel’s army over to the Philistines."
20
Immediately, Saul fell flat on the ground. He was terrified by Samuel’s words and was also weak because he had not eaten anything all day and all night.
New Living Translation
Chapter 28
17
The
Lord
has done just as he said he would. He has torn the kingdom from you and given it to your rival, David.
18
The
Lord
has done this to you today because you refused to carry out his fierce anger against the Amalekites.
19
What’s more, the
Lord
will hand you and the army of Israel over to the Philistines tomorrow, and you and your sons will be here with me. The
Lord
will bring down the entire army of Israel in defeat.'
20
Saul fell full length on the ground, paralyzed with fright because of Samuel’s words. He was also faint with hunger, for he had eaten nothing all day and all night.

20
Then Saul fell at once full length on the ground, filled with fear because of the words of Samuel. And there was no strength in him, for he had eaten nothing all day and all night.
New International Version
Chapter 28
17
The
Lord
has done what he predicted through me. The
Lord
has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors—to David.
18
Because you did not obey the
Lord
or carry out his fierce wrath against the Amalekites, the
Lord
has done this to you today.
19
The
Lord
will deliver both Israel and you into the hands of the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The
Lord
will also give the army of Israel into the hands of the Philistines."
20
Immediately Saul fell full length on the ground, filled with fear because of Samuel’s words. His strength was gone, for he had eaten nothing all that day and all that night.
