Chapter 25
3(now the man’s name was Nabal, and his wife’s name was Abigail. And the woman was intelligent and beautiful in appearance, but the man was harsh and evil in his dealings, and he was a Calebite), 4that David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was shearing his sheep. 5So David sent ten young men; and David said to the young men, 'Go up to Carmel and visit Nabal, and greet him in my name; 6and this is what you shall say: ‘ Have a long life, peace to you, and peace to your house, and peace to all that you have! 7Now then, I have heard that you have shearers. Now, your shepherds have been with us; we have not harmed them, nor has anything of theirs gone missing all the days they were in Carmel.King James Version

3Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb. 4And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep. 5And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name: 6And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast. 7And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel.Christian Standard Bible
4While David was in the wilderness, he heard that Nabal was shearing sheep,
5so David sent ten young men instructing them, "Go up to Carmel, and when you come to Nabal, greet him in my name.
6Then say this: 'Long life to you, and peace to you, peace to your family, and peace to all that is yours.
7I hear that you are shearing. When your shepherds were with us, we did not harass them, and nothing of theirs was missing the whole time they were in Carmel.

4When David heard that Nabal was shearing his sheep,
5he sent ten of his young men to Carmel with this message for Nabal:
6Peace and prosperity to you, your family, and everything you own!
7I am told that it is sheep-shearing time. While your shepherds stayed among us near Carmel, we never harmed them, and nothing was ever stolen from them.
