Chapter 1

22But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, 'I will not go until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, so that he may appear before the LORD and stay there for life.' 23Elkanah her husband said to her, 'Do what seems best to you. Stay until you have weaned him; only may the LORD confirm His word.' So the woman stayed and nursed her son until she weaned him. 24Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with a three-year-old bull, one ephah of flour, and a jug of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD in Shiloh, although the child was young. 25Then they slaughtered the bull, and brought the boy to Eli. 26And she said, 'Pardon me, my lord! As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you, praying to the LORD. 27For this boy I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my request which I asked of Him. 28So I have also dedicated him to the LORD; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the LORD.' And he worshiped the LORD there.

So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him. 24And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young. 25And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli. 26And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD. 27For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: 28Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.

22Hannah did not go and explained to her husband, "After the child is weaned, I'll take him to appear in the Lord's presence and to stay there permanently."
23Her husband, Elkanah, replied, "Do what you think is best, and stay here until you've weaned him. May the Lord confirm your word." So Hannah stayed there and nursed her son until she weaned him. 24When she had weaned him, she took him with her to Shiloh, as well as a three-year-old bull, half a bushel of flour, and a clay jar of wine. Though the boy was still young, she took him to the Lord's house at Shiloh. 25Then they slaughtered the bull and brought the boy to Eli.
26"Please, my lord," she said, "as surely as you live, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the Lord. 27I prayed for this boy, and since the Lord gave me what I asked him for, 28I now give the boy to the Lord. For as long as he lives, he is given to the Lord." Then he worshiped the Lord there.

22But Hannah did not go. She told her husband, 'Wait until the boy is weaned. Then I will take him to the Tabernacle and leave him there with the LORD permanently.'
23'Whatever you think is best,' Elkanah agreed. 'Stay here for now, and may the LORD help you keep your promise.' So she stayed home and nursed the boy until he was weaned.
24When the child was weaned, Hannah took him to the Tabernacle in Shiloh. They brought along a three-year-old bull for the sacrifice and a basket of flour and some wine. 25After sacrificing the bull, they brought the boy to Eli. 26'Sir, do you remember me?' Hannah asked. 'I am the woman who stood here several years ago praying to the LORD. 27I asked the LORD to give me this boy, and he has granted my request. 28Now I am giving him to the LORD, and he will belong to the LORD his whole life.' And they worshiped the LORD there.

22Ana no lo acompañó. ?No iré hasta que el niño sea destetado —le explicó a su esposo—. Entonces lo llevaré para dedicarlo al SEÑOR, y allí se quedará el resto de su vida.
23?Bien, haz lo que te parezca mejor —respondió su esposo Elcaná—. Quédate hasta que lo destetes, con tal de que el SEÑOR cumpla su palabra. Así pues, Ana se quedó en su casa y crió a su hijo hasta que lo destetó.
24Cuando dejó de amamantarlo, salió con el niño, a pesar de ser tan pequeño, y lo llevó a la casa del SEÑOR en Siló. También llevó un becerro de tres años, una medida de harina y un odre de vino. 25Luego sacrificaron el becerro y presentaron el niño a Elí. 26Dijo Ana: «Mi señor, tan cierto como que usted vive, le juro que yo soy la mujer que estuvo aquí a su lado orando al SEÑOR. 27Este es el niño que yo le pedí al SEÑOR, y él me lo concedió. 28Ahora yo, por mi parte, se lo entrego al SEÑOR.
