Chapter 1

17Then Eli answered and said, 'Go in peace; and may the God of Israel grant your request that you have asked of Him.' 18She said, 'Let your bond-servant find favor in your sight.' So the woman went on her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.
19Then they got up early in the morning and worshiped before the LORD, and returned again to their house in Ramah. And Elkanah had relations with Hannah his wife, and the LORD remembered her. 20It came about in due time, after Hannah had conceived, that she gave birth to a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, 'Because I have asked for him of the LORD.'
21Then the man Elkanah went up with all his household to offer to the LORD the yearly sacrifice and to pay his vow. 22But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, 'I will not go until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, so that he may appear before the LORD and stay there for life.' 23Elkanah her husband said to her, 'Do what seems best to you. Stay until you have weaned him; only may the LORD confirm His word.' So the woman stayed and nursed her son until she weaned him. 24Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with a three-year-old bull, one ephah of flour, and a jug of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD in Shiloh, although the child was young. 25Then they slaughtered the bull, and brought the boy to Eli.

19And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her. 20Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD. 21And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow. 22But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever. 23And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him. 24And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young. 25And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.

18"May your servant find favor with you," she replied. Then Hannah went on her way; she ate and no longer looked despondent.
19The next morning Elkanah and Hannah got up early to worship before the Lord. Afterward, they returned home to Ramah. Then Elkanah was intimate with his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her. 20After some time, Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, because she said, "I requested him from the Lord."
21When Elkanah and all his household went up to make the annual sacrifice and his vow offering to the Lord, 22Hannah did not go and explained to her husband, "After the child is weaned, I'll take him to appear in the Lord's presence and to stay there permanently."
23Her husband, Elkanah, replied, "Do what you think is best, and stay here until you've weaned him. May the Lord confirm your word." So Hannah stayed there and nursed her son until she weaned him. 24When she had weaned him, she took him with her to Shiloh, as well as a three-year-old bull, half a bushel of flour, and a clay jar of wine. Though the boy was still young, she took him to the Lord's house at Shiloh. 25Then they slaughtered the bull and brought the boy to Eli.

17'In that case,' Eli said, 'go in peace! May the God of Israel grant the request you have asked of him.'
18'Oh, thank you, sir!' she exclaimed. Then she went back and began to eat again, and she was no longer sad.
19The entire family got up early the next morning and went to worship the LORD once more. Then they returned home to Ramah. When Elkanah slept with Hannah, the LORD remembered her plea, 20and in due time she gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, for she said, 'I asked the LORD for him.'
21The next year Elkanah and his family went on their annual trip to offer a sacrifice to the LORD. 22But Hannah did not go. She told her husband, 'Wait until the boy is weaned. Then I will take him to the Tabernacle and leave him there with the LORD permanently.'
23'Whatever you think is best,' Elkanah agreed. 'Stay here for now, and may the LORD help you keep your promise.' So she stayed home and nursed the boy until he was weaned.
24When the child was weaned, Hannah took him to the Tabernacle in Shiloh. They brought along a three-year-old bull for the sacrifice and a basket of flour and some wine. 25After sacrificing the bull, they brought the boy to Eli.

24After he was weaned, she took the boy with her, young as he was, along with a three-year-old bull, an ephah of flour and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD at Shiloh. 25When the bull had been sacrificed, they brought the boy to Eli,

Quédate hasta que lo hayas destetado; solamente confirme el SEÑOR su palabra. La mujer se quedó y crió a su hijo hasta que lo destetó. 24Después de haberlo destetado, lo llevó consigo, con un novillo de tres años, un efa de harina y un odre de vino, y lo trajo a la casa del SEÑOR en Silo, aunque el niño era pequeño. 25Entonces sacrificaron el novillo, y trajeron el niño a Elí.

Desde ese momento, su semblante cambió. 19Al día siguiente madrugaron y, después de adorar al SEÑOR, volvieron a su casa en Ramá. Luego Elcaná se unió a su esposa Ana, y el SEÑOR se acordó de ella. 20Ana concibió y, pasado un año, dio a luz un hijo y le puso por nombre Samuel, pues dijo: «Al SEÑOR se lo pedí».
21Cuando Elcaná volvió a salir con toda su familia para cumplir su promesa y ofrecer su sacrificio anual al SEÑOR,
22Ana no lo acompañó. ?No iré hasta que el niño sea destetado —le explicó a su esposo—. Entonces lo llevaré para dedicarlo al SEÑOR, y allí se quedará el resto de su vida.
23?Bien, haz lo que te parezca mejor —respondió su esposo Elcaná—. Quédate hasta que lo destetes, con tal de que el SEÑOR cumpla su palabra. Así pues, Ana se quedó en su casa y crió a su hijo hasta que lo destetó.
24Cuando dejó de amamantarlo, salió con el niño, a pesar de ser tan pequeño, y lo llevó a la casa del SEÑOR en Siló. También llevó un becerro de tres años, una medida de harina y un odre de vino. 25Luego sacrificaron el becerro y presentaron el niño a Elí.
