Chapter 17

29But David said, 'What have I done now? Was it not just a question?' 30Then he turned away from him to another and said the same thing; and the people replied with the same words as before.
31When the words that David spoke were heard, they informed Saul, and he sent for him. 32And David said to Saul, 'May no one’s heart fail on account of him; your servant will go and fight this Philistine!'

29And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause? 30And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner. 31And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.
32And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.

29"What have I done now?" protested David. "It was just a question." 30Then he turned from those beside him to others in front of him and asked about the offer. The people gave him the same answer as before.
31What David said was overheard and reported to Saul, so he had David brought to him. 32David said to Saul, "Don’t let anyone be discouraged by him; your servant will go and fight this Philistine!"
