New American Standard Bible
Chapter 14
37So Saul inquired of God: 'Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will You hand them over to Israel?' But He did not answer him on that day. 38Then Saul said, 'Come here, all you leaders of the people, and investigate and see how this sin has happened today. 39For as the Lord lives, who saves Israel, even if it is in my son Jonathan, he shall assuredly die!' But not one of all the people answered him.King James Version
Chapter 14
37And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day. 38And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day. 39For, as the LORD liveth, which saveth Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.Christian Standard Bible
New Living Translation
38Then Saul said to the leaders, 'Something’s wrong! I want all my army commanders to come here. We must find out what sin was committed today.
39I vow by the name of the Lord who rescued Israel that the sinner will surely die, even if it is my own son Jonathan!' But no one would tell him what the trouble was.
